Governor Granholm says no to $800,000 for Dow Study
Yesterday, the Governor vetoed Rep. Moolenaar's $800,000 gift of the taxpayers money to Dow Chemical to fund a bio-avialability study. We appreciate the Governor defending the integrity of the Clean Michigan Initiative and for her defense of the taxpayers. This study is already being done by Dow to garner site specific numbers higher than the state residential criteria of 90ppt. If Dow wants it let them pay for it!

State must avoid unhealthy compromise on cleanup
October 1, 2004
Michigan needs to remain tough in its negotiations with Dow Chemical Co. over cleanup of old dioxin deposits downwind and downstream of Dow's Midland plant. Admittedly, this is scary stuff for residents in a company town, who see a threat to their livelihoods and property values.
